This is a long term insurance policy for those of you who work in the police force.
Would you be able to cope financially should you not be able to work due to an illness and/or disability?
Could you keep up your mortgage re-payments, any personal loans or finance agreements after your sick pay has finished?
With police income protection insurance, you will continue to receive a monthly percentage of your income which can be used to continue paying for your financial commitments whilst you are on your road to recovery.
This income will be tax free and will proceed to pay out on your agreed deferred date. You will continue to receive this up until you retire or are fit enough again to return to work (usually up to a maximum of 10 years).
Because the underwriting process can be somewhat more complicated than with an Accident, sickness & unemployment insurance policy you may be asked more medical related questions than normal.
Police income insurance is not directly linked to your mortgage or loans so you are free to spend this income on whatever you like.
Please note that income insurance does not cover you against redundancy or unemployment. For that you will need Accident, Sickness & Unemployment Insurance.
